In this, I will provide the basic definition of what is keyword density, its importance and how to calculate it.
What is keyword density?
The word keyword density means how many times the focus keyword should exist in the whole content of the webpage. It is calculated in percentage form and to calculate it just divide the no of times keywords appeared in your whole content by the number of words your content has and after that multiply the result by 100. In the whole content keyword density percentage should be 2 to 3%.
How to calculate Keyword density
Suppose, I have written a content of 900 words and used my focus keyword in the whole content 10 times and I want to calculate the keyword density of the content. Let’s calculate it
The formula for calculating keyword density:
Content Keyword density (%) = (Number of keyword in the content ÷ Total words count in your content) × 100
Step 1: The total number of focus keywords in your content is divided by the total number of words in the content. For example – In this, the number of keywords I have used is 10 and the total number of words in the whole content is 900. So, it will be like as below:-
10/900 = 0.011 we get
Step 2: Then multiply the number we get by dividing both the focus keyword and content word count by 100 because for converting a fraction in the percentage we multiply the fraction with 100.
0.011*100 = 1.11 %
Keyword density (%) = (10 ÷ 900) × 100 = 1.11%
So the keyword density of this content is 1.11 %.

Keyword stuffing is the practice of writing a specific keyword excessively in website content with the intention of ranking in search results. In short, this is a common trick used by the black hat SEO to rank on the Google search engine result page.
As a result, keywords that they want to rank search engines impose severe penalties, including a lower ranking in search results or even a complete ban from search results.
The Mechanics of Keyword Stuffing:
Keyword stuffing can be seen in trying to exploit search engine algorithms in different ways:
Keyword overload:
This involves repeating the keyword many times in the content and often has to make it unique.

Sometimes webmasters list their keywords at the bottom of the site in a font colour that matches the background and they make it invisible to human readers but still taken into account by search engines. In this users can not read these keywords because it is in the same colour that matches the background of the web page but crawlers read it and index it.
Irrelevant keywords:
Contains keywords that are not relevant to the content of the page and may otherwise be relevant. The purpose of this was to drive traffic to irrelevant articles and thus grow the website.
Meta Tags:
In the early days of SEO, it was common to fill meta tags with keywords. This involved adding keywords to meta tags such as meta description and meta title. As a result, websites that use such tactics may be penalized and their rankings reduced significantly.
